Why You Should Get an Auto
Warranty
The auto warranty you get when you purchase
a new car should give you security when it comes time for
repairs. Purchasing a new car is a huge investment and one that
should not be taken lightly. If you've purchased a reliable and
highly rated car, it should last you a few years without
needing any major repairs. But, you always have to consider the
'what if'. What if repairs are needed? You won't have to worry
if you have a good auto warranty on your car.

recommend.
The unfortunate part about auto warranties is that while
they can be great things, many people don't fully understand
them and know how to use them.
The type of auto warranty you get with your new car may play
a part in the type of car you buy. It definitely is something
you should check on before the final purchase. Read the
warranty thoroughly and if you don't understand everything,
don't hesitate to ask the salesman.
Every new car warranty is different. Some of them will cover
the car for the first 36,000 miles or 3 years, whichever comes
first, and will cover non-wear items. Other warranties will
cover the car for up to 100,000 miles or 10 years. The length
and coverage of the warranty may help you decide if you want an
extended warranty of if you even want to buy this particular
model of car.
It's important to understand the difference between an auto
warranty and an extended warranty.
The auto warranty you get on a new car will consist of a
bumper-to-bumper warranty that covers everything except items
of wear like tires and brakes. It should also have a powertrain
warranty, which covers the engine, transmission and any parts
that make the car move.
An extended warranty, on the other hand, will take over when
the bumper-to-bumper warranty expires. Some will act just like
the auto warranty and pay the bill immediately when the service
is done. Others require you to pay the bill and wait for
reimbursements. Weigh the options on all these factors before
you decide on any certain warranty.
There is another warranty that many are not aware may exist
for their automobile. This warranty is called the "secret
warranty" or after warranty assistance. How many times have you
had something break, whether it's a car or household appliance,
right after the warranty expired? This is where that after
warranty assistance may kick in. Although this secret warranty
isn't always in effect for everyone, many people may be
eligible for it.
The after warranty assistance or AWA is sometimes offered to
customers to help pay for repairs that are past the factory
warranty expiration date. Customers are not eligible for this
assistance if they have an extended warranty to cover the
repair. In addition, not every customer will be eligible for
this program. Time and mileage requirements will still be taken
into consideration and you may have to be the original owner of
the car. Another criterion is that the car must have a positive
maintenance record at the dealership. The repair costs may be
taken care of by the dealer and/or manufacturer, or they may
work out a three-way split, including the owner. It's something
worth checking out if you're in this situation.
Always take the time to closely look at what type of
auto warranty comes with your car before you
make the final purchase.
